Bug Fixes

Philips 89C66x load bug fixed.

Atmel AT89S8253 S4 address map:
      Flash 00000-02FFF
      EEPROM 03000-037FF

Philips 89C51B,89C52B,89C54B,89C58B,89C51X2B,89C52X2B,89C54X2B,89C58X2B,
89C51RA2B,89C51RB2B,89C51RC2B,89C51RD2B and P89V51RD2 devices require
that PSENn signal is connected to S4 ZIF pin 1.
Refer to MCS51_Adaptors.xls for more details.

Philips PXA-G39,PXA-G49 require to modify S4 MCS51 DIL40 to PLCC44 adaptor.
Pin 9 on the left top side should be disconnected from the bottom side.
Pin 9 is RESET signal for standard 8x51 processors but RESETn for Philips
PXA-G39,PXA-G49. Connect the pin 9 on the top left side to GND, e.g. connect
it to pin 20 on the left side of PLCC32 socket.
Refer to MCS51_Adaptors.xls for more details.

Green QUICK button is now used to burn an encryption array (if any exists).
For EPROM based 8x51 devices FUNC BURN burns the encryption array.
For erasable parts FUNC BURN erases the device. Dallas 89C420 is both
erasable and has 64 bytes encryption array. So it was necessary to find
a solution by using green QUICK button.

Installing the Latest Library
-----------------------------

To install this new Library software into S4, a new Library ROM needs to
be created. This procedure is described below:

1. Download HEXI164.HEX to S4 in the normal way. HEXI164.HEX is an
Intel Hex file. The data will reside between addresses 08000-0FFFFH.

2. Do a RAM checksum (Grey SUM key) from 08000 to 0FFFF:

>CHECKSUM RAM
08000,0FFFF

The resulting SUM should be: 0033FAC3

3. With the freshly Burnt Library ROM in S4's ZIF socket, press LIB, and
then ENTER. The Library program will now load, and S4 should the
display the following sign-on message:

DATAMAN S4 LIBRARY
MCS-51 1.64
XXXK BYTES RAM
>

"But my S4 has lost it's Library, I can't BURN a 27256"
-------------------------------------------------------

No problem. When S4 has no Library loaded, it is possible to program a
27256 at 12.5V, using a 500us pulse width. This is suitable for most,
but not all 27256 EPROMs. If you do program a 27256 with no Library
loaded, MOVE the Library code down to address 00000 before BURNing:

>MOVE 08000,0FFFF,00000

If you don't fancy actually BURNing an EPROM at all, there is another
way to install a Library into S4. S4 has the facility to load directly
from the serial port into its library memory, using the S4 driver for
Windows and the Receive Library function.

If you require further help on re-loading the Library, please contact
